the problem

Many people experiencing homelessness in Elgin live on the streets and are served by multiple agencies. Shelters are available through various organizations, but program requirements or health restrictions limit their access. Relationships with service providers and individuals with lived experience in homelessness have allowed One Collective Elgin to develop a project that will provide a way to coordinate the efforts and services of existing stakeholders. Creating a facility that models how Jesus served others will offer a dignifying and adequate shelter for people and a space for a central hub(s) for human services. We believe we can move people into a transitional shelter and eventually permanent housing through individualized care plans. One Collective Elgin will provide the necessary bridge for coordinating efforts. let’s restore community. will operate and manage the project and facility. Partner organizations can expect ongoing support and facilitation, and provide opportunities for continuous improvement to clients.
